A design feature found in many vacuum cleaners in which a sensor senses when the vacuum motor is overheating due to a clog or obstruction. When this occurs, the motor shuts off automatically before permanent damage to occur; also known as "Thermal Cut-Out" or "Thermal Shut-Off."
