Scrums
When play has been stopped scrums are used to restart the game. Forwards for each team will line up, jam together as tight as possible, and face off. They are not allowed to use their hands, but each line must, working together, try to push the opposing line back. The ball is rolled into the scrum, and the "hooker" attempts to reach in with his foot and "hook" the ball back to the number eight player, whose job will be to pick it up and start an attack. Because of the number of players there is a difference between Rugby Union and Rugby League Scrums. Please see out section on rules of the game for an explanation.
