Skimmia

Genus of 4 species of monoecious or dioecious, occasionally hermaphrodite, evergreen shrubs and trees found in woodland from the Himalayas to S.E. Asia, China, and Japan. These slow-growing dwarf shrubs are popular for their glossy green leaves and red hollylike berries that last into winter. Their pinkish buds become tiny white flowers in late spring. Tolerate moderate air pollution. Prefer moist, acid loam and partial shade. Start from seeds or cuttings.
