System integration test

A project implementation activity that tests the interfaces between sets of programmes or functional areas in a proposed new system. It verifies the ability of the system to handle data and operating requirements common to more than area, and to verify the impacts from one department to another. A unit test of a single function may show optimization of that function at the expense of a negative impact on other areas.
