Describes a roller coaster that has a theme or storey and uses effects such as lighting, sound, props or other elements to enhance the ride experience and carry on the theme or tell the story. Most themed roller coasters are enclosed but some like the duelling Dragons at Islands of Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom are not.
