Ultra high frequency (UHF)
The frequency band (300 MHz to 3,000 MHz). In television, UHF refers to a subset of that band, the range from 470 MHz to 890 MHz, once allocated to TV channels 14 through 83.
Demands of other transmission services (such as police radios) have eaten into both the lower and the upper reaches of the UHF TV allocations.
Taboos eliminate still more channels. Nevertheless, the UHF TV band is seen by many ATV proponents as the most likely place to situate receiverincompatible and augmentation ATV channels.
