Universal serial bus (USB)

A protocol for transferring data between digital devices. Many digital cameras and memory card readers are equipped with a USB port for connexion to a computer. USB offers higher speeds of data transmission than a standard serial port, but slower than FireWire. USB is designed to be "Plug'n'Play, that is, a USB device may be added to your computer with any need to restart it.
