Actions which show that a person wishes to speak. Examples include taking a sharp intake of breath or a sudden change in posture when the current talker is almost finished talking.

Arm twister handshake

When a person changes position during a standard handshake so that the other person's palm is facing upward. The person who has their hand angled on top is seen as more dominant.

Actions that serve a fuctional need, rather than being a form of communication. A person shifting their weight may do so simply to make themselves more comfortable, and has no further hidden meaning.

A smile that somebody puts on for show rather than because they are happy. Most people can distinguish an artifical smile from a real one, as people tend not to use their eye muscles in a fake smile.

A form of arm corssing where a person grabs their forearms with their opposite hand. It is another defensive stance that comforts the performer.

Gestures which indicate that a person agrees with what is being said, such as leaning forwards and keeping arms uncrossed.

Actions that display a liking of another person. They can be overt, such as hugs and kisses, or more subtle, such as increased eye contact.
