Calculus is the mathmatical study of change. Calculus has two branches, differential calculus and integral calculus.

A device for weighing objects or amounts. A balance usually has a horizontal bar with a pan hanging at each end.

Remainder

The number that is left over when one number is divided by another number. Numbers that can be divided evenly have a remainder of 0.

Deduction

The use of general rules or principles to draw a conclusion or make a calculation.

Ordinal number

Mathematics; Calculus

A number, such as 3rd, 11th, or 400th, used in counting to indicate position in series.

Positive

Mathematics; Calculus

Greater than zero. The plus sign is sometimes used to show that a number is positive such as +2.

Ratio

Mathematics; Calculus

A relationship between two numbers. If a box has six red marbles and four blue marbles, the ratio of red marbles to blue marbles is 6 to 4.

Factor

Mathematics; Calculus

A number that can be multiplied by another number to reach a specific number, is called a factor.
