Genetic engineering
Acquired
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
Developed in response to the environment, not inherited, such as a character trait (acquired characteristic) resulting from environmental effect(s).
Isoalleles
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
Different forms of a gene that produce the same phenotype or very similar phenotypes.
Mapping
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
Determining the location of a locus (gene or genetic marker) on a chromosome.
Anaerobic digestion
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
Digestion of materials in the absence of oxygen.
Variation
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
Differences between individuals within a population or among populations.
Electromagnetic radiation
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
Electromagnetic waves, including ultraviolet (UV), X-rays, and gamma radiation ( rays). Electromagnetic radiation is used to produce mutant cells or organisms, or, in the case of UV, disinfestation ...
Direct embryogenesis
Biotechnology; Genetic engineering
Embryoids form directly in culture, without an intervening callus phase, on the surface of zygotic or somatic embryos or on explant tissues (leaf section, root tip, etc.).
