A central uplift characterised by a ring of peaks rather than a single peak; peak rings are typical of larger terrestrial craters above about 50 kilometres (30 miles) in diameter.

Permafrost

Permanently frozen soil or subsoil, occurring in arctic, sub-arctic, and alpine regions. Its thickness ranges from 30 cm to > 1000 meters, and it underlies about 1/5 of the Earth's land area.
