Channel resistance

This is the friction created by the channel on a body of fmoving water. The higher the friction the slower the flow.
Cap rock

A bed of resistant rock which overlies a less resistant rock. Often used to describe the rock overlying an oilfield.
Banded iron ore

A sediment consisting of layer of chert alternating with bands of ferric iron oxides (hematite and limonite) in valuable concentrations.

A soft coal formed by an intermediate degree of metamorphism and containing 15 to 20 percent volatile. The most common grade of coal.

Connate water

Water included in the groundwater which is derived from the rock itself, as opposed to water which has percolated down from the surface.

An indented or wavy shoreline beach form, with the regular seaward- pointing parts rounded rather than sharp, as in the cuspate type.
