Human genome
The human genome consists of 23 chromosome and the small mitochondrial DNA. 22 of the 23 chromosomes are autosomal chromosome pairs and the last one being a gender-determining pair. In total, the human genome contains the sequences of the 3 billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA and approximately 20,000-25,000 genes. By understanding human genome, scientists are able to develop new medical applications that can significantly advance the state of health care.

Human genome
Hydrogen peroxide
Medical; Human genome
1) A strong oxidising agent used in aqueous solution as a ripening agent, bleach, and topical anti-infective. It is relatively unstable and solutions deteriorate over time unless stabilised by the ...
Hydroxyl
Medical; Human genome
1) The univalent radical OH. Hydroxyl radical is a potent oxidising agent. 2) A neutral, highly reactive, toxic free radical commonly found in biological systems. 3) The chemical group or ion OH ...
Hyperkalemia
Medical; Human genome
1) Hyperkalemia; higher than normal levels of potassium in the circulating blood; associated with kidney failure or sometimes with the use of diuretic drugs. 2) The presence of an abnormally high ...
Hardy-Weinberg law
Medical; Human genome
The concept that both gene frequencies and genotype frequencies will remain constant from generation to generation in an infinitely large, interbreeding population in which mating is at random and ...
Hemiparesis
Medical; Human genome
Muscular weakness or partial paralysis restricted to one side of the body (discharged with a residual partial right hemiparesis. )
High density lipoproteins
Medical; Human genome
1) Class of lipoproteins that promote transport of cholesterol from extrahepatic tissue to the liver for excretion in the bile; synthesised by the liver as particles lacking a lipid core, they ...
High-resolution chromosome studies
Medical; Human genome
Analysis of the number and structure of the chromosomes when cell division has been arrested and the chromosomes stained at an early stage (pro-metaphase) of mitosis. The chromosomes of a high ...
