Immunology
Immunology is the study of the structuree and function of the immune system which is responsible for the protection from invading foreign macromolecules or organisms. It is a broad branch of biomedical science that covers the study of all aspects of the immune system in organisms. It deals with the physiological functioning of the immune system in both healthy states and immunological disorders (autoimmune diseases, hypersensitivities, immune deficiency, transplant rejection); the physical, chemical and physiological characteristics of the components of the immune system in vitro, in situ, and in vivo.

Anaphylatoxin
Biology; Immunology
Substance capable of releasing histamine from mast cells and basophils.
C8 deficiency
Biology; Immunology
An uncommon genetic disorder with an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance in which affected individuals are missing one or more C8 chains. This is associated with a defective ability to form a ...
C7 deficiency
Biology; Immunology
A very uncommon genetic disorder with an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance in which the serum of affected persons contains only trace amounts of C7 in the plasma. They have a defective ability ...
C6 deficiency
Biology; Immunology
A very uncommon genetic defect that has an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance in which affected individuals have only trace amounts of C6 in their plasma. They are defective in the ability to ...
Complement component 5b (C5b)
Biology; Immunology
The principal molecular product that remains after C5a has been split off by the action of C5 convertase on C5. It has a binding site for complement component C6 and complexes with it to begin ...
C9 deficiency
Biology; Immunology
A very uncommon genetic disorder with an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance in which only trace amounts of C9 are present in the plasma of affected persons. There is a defective ability to form ...
Complement component 9 (C9)
Biology; Immunology
A complement component comprised of a single chain protein that binds to the C5b678 complex on the cell surface. The interaction of 12 to 15 C9 molecules with one C5b678 complex produces the membrane ...
