Natural gas
Natural gas is a naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas mixture consisting primarily of methane, with up to 20 % of other hydrocarbons as well as impurities in varying amounts such as carbon dioxide. Natural gas is widely used as an important energy source in many applications including heating buildings, generating electricity, providing heat and power to industry, as fuel for vehicles and as a chemical feedstock in the manufacture of products such as plastics and other commercially important organic chemicals.

Natural gas
Seal weld
Energy; Natural gas
A weld that does not contribute anything to the mechanical integrity of an assembly, but is made purely to seal or prevent leakage from, for instance, a threaded joint.
Sealant
Energy; Natural gas
A greaselike substance that is injected into lubricated plug valves to reduces operating force and to achieve a tight seal against internal leakage.
Seat
Energy; Natural gas
The portion of the valve body that the flow control element contacts to seal against internal leakage; it can be a separate part fastened in the body or can be integral with the body (a machined ...
Seat ring
Energy; Natural gas
A ring-shaped part that is fastened in a valve body to be a body seat; it is used in gate valve, globe valves, cheque valves, ball valves, and high-performance butterfly valves.
Self-relieving
Energy; Natural gas
The process by which excessive internal body cavity pressure is automatically relieved either into the upstream or downstream line generally found in ball valves
Set pressure
Energy; Natural gas
The pressure at which a pressure relief valve begins to open; it is established by adjusting the valve spring.
Shaft
Energy; Natural gas
The part of a ball valve, a butterfly valve, or a plug valve that turns the flow control element; on the plug valve it is usually integral with the plug.
