Natural gas
Natural gas is a naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas mixture consisting primarily of methane, with up to 20 % of other hydrocarbons as well as impurities in varying amounts such as carbon dioxide. Natural gas is widely used as an important energy source in many applications including heating buildings, generating electricity, providing heat and power to industry, as fuel for vehicles and as a chemical feedstock in the manufacture of products such as plastics and other commercially important organic chemicals.

Natural gas
Equivalent pipe length
Energy; Natural gas
A measure of a valve's resistance to flow where the resistance is equal to and expressed as a lenght of pipe of the same size as that connected to the valve.
Extended body valve
Energy; Natural gas
A small forged-steel gate or globe valve that has a body with one end extended substantially for direct connexion to pressure vessels, piping headers, and so on, without the use of a pipe nipple.
Face to face
Energy; Natural gas
The overall dimension from the inlet face of a valve to the outlet face of a valve (one end to another) allowing valves of the same size and pressure class to be mutually interchangeable, regardless ...
Fire safe
Energy; Natural gas
A designation applied to a valve that has been verified by testing to adequately seal against external and integral leakage during a fire; it is usually used in conjunction with a soft-seated valve.
Fitting
Energy; Natural gas
Any component, other than valves, used with pipe as part of the pressure system and normally referring to items covered by a national standard.
Flanged end
Energy; Natural gas
A valve end that has an integral flange for bolting to a connecting pipe having a similar flange.
