Grazing

Receiving points for brushing up close to bullets without actually touching them. It encourages risk-reward gameplay by forcing players to put themselves in danger in order to achieve high scores.

Phase

A specific section of a boss' attack pattern. Normally once a boss has taken a certain amount of damage they will move on to a new phase which brings with it new bullet patterns.

Multiplier

Part of the scoring system of a particular game. It will work in conjunction with the base point value to give a resultant point reward for an action.
