The reduction of a player's score to almost nothing if they have used a continue. Many games will make the last digit of the score equal to the number of continues used.
Score item

An item that serves no purpose other than to increase the player's score. Players may engage in milking to produce as many of these items as possible.
Power-up

An item that increases the player's ship's capabilities in some way, often through speed or firepower.
