Solar power

Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaics convert light into electric current using the photoelectric effect.

Contributors in Solar power

Solar power

Waveform

Energy; Solar power

The shape of the phase power at a certain frequency and amplitude.

Gassing

Energy; Solar power

The evolution of gas from one or more of the electrodes in the cells of a battery. Gassing commonly results from local action self-discharge or from the electrolysis of water in the electrolyte ...

Wet shelf life

Energy; Solar power

The period of time that a charged battery, when filled with electrolyte, can remain unused before dropping below a specified level of performance.

Volt (V)

Energy; Solar power

A unit of electrical force equal to that amount of electromotive force that will cause a steady current of one ampere to flow through a resistance of one ohm.

Frequency regulation

Energy; Solar power

This indicates the variability in the output frequency. Some loads will switch off or not operate properly if frequency variations exceed 1%.

Voltage

Energy; Solar power

The amount of electromotive force, measured in volts, that exists between two points.

Fresnel lens

Energy; Solar power

An optical device that focuses light like a magnifying glass; concentric rings are faced at slightly different angles so that light falling on any ring is focused to the same point.
