One of the standard resolutions for upcoming ultra-high-definition specifications of televisions and monitors. It is double the size of 1080p resolutions, and stretches across 3,840 horizontal pixels to give a total viewing area of 8.3 megapixels.

4K equipment is currently available to buy but as of 2012 it has very few supported applications. Youtube once offered support for the resolution but has since pulled it until it becomes more widespread.
