The silk route was the most important trade route in ancient china. The route which extends approximately four thousand miles was used to transport silk, perfumes, cosmetics, fabrics and herbs which have been imported and exported since ancient times. It used to connect Asia with north and north eastern Africa along with Europe and the Mediterranean. There were other small trade routes which were connected to the silk route too.
