Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA)
The Australian Communications and Media Authority is the Australian government watchdog for the broadcasting, radiocommunications and telecommunications industries.It is tasked with ensuring that Australia's media and communications legislation, standards and practises run both effectively and in the public interest.
ACMA was created on 1 July 2005 after the Australian Broadcasting Authority and the Australian Communications Authority were merged, making it one of a small number of converged regulators that exist worldwide.
