Calle 13
Calle 13 is a Puerto Rican hip-hop band. It is comprised of two stepbrothers, lead singer Rene Perez Joglar (more commonly known as Residente) and vocalist, instrumentalist Eduardo Jose Cabra Martinez (Visitante), and their sister Ileana on background vocals (PG-13).
The group released its first (self-titled) album in 2005, which was well received, aided by two popular singles "Se Vale To-To" and "Atrevete-te-te". Calle 13's second album Residente o Visitante was released in 2007. This album helped the group win a Grammy Award and two Latin Grammy Awards. A year later, the group released its third album, Los de Atras Vienen Conmigo, which also won both at the Grammy Awards and Latin Grammy Awards. Their latest album, Entren Los Que Quieran was released in Nov 2010. They have been nominated 10 times for the 2011 Grammy Awards.
Calle 13's music has been described as a fusion of various styles, including reggaeton, jazz, bossa nova, salsa, and cumbia. They have been reluctant to categorise their music into one specific genre, usually opting to define it as urban style music.
