Dexter (October 1 2006-Present) is an American crime drama series broadcast on Showtime Networks.The first season of seven was based on Jeff Lindsay's novel 'Darkly Dreaming Dexter' and was adapted for television by screenwriter James Manos Jr.The series is set in Miami, Florida, and focuses on the protagonist Dexter Morgan (Michael C.Hall) who is a blood spatter pattern analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department (based on the actual Miami-Dade Police Department) by day, and a serial killer by night. The series has enjoyed great popularity; its Season 4 finale broke the record for the most-watched series episode ever on Showtime, while Michael C. Hall has received several awards for his portrayal of Dexter including a Golden Globe.
