Dongcheng district

Dongcheng District (Chinese: 东城区, pinyin: dōngchéng qū) is an urban district in Beijing covering the eastern half of Beijing's urban core.

It covers over 24 square kilometres in area and has a population of over 530,000. The area hosts many of Beijing's popular landmarks such as the Forbidden City, Tian'anmen square, Yong He Gong Lamasery and Wangfujing.
