On the hill above the River, one mile north of Lambourne Newbury at the top with the Donnington castle. the property was given to Sir Richard Abberbury crenellate to 1386 permission. the castle is a rectangular enclosure with sides of each corner and along the longest two square towers of midway was a round tower. The castle is the most impressive part of it, and in fact now settled, was only part of the gatehouse. This is a three-storey rectangular building with two round towers at the entrance, flank, and rise above the rest of the building another storey.
