Freddy Mercury
(1946 –1991) Freddy Mercury was the artistic name of Farrokh Bulsara, a Zanzibar (India) born English singer, well known for being the voice of the band Queen. He practised the Zoroastrian religion (he lived in Zanzibar until the revolution in 1964, when he moved to England), and he studied art at and graphic design at Ealing Art College. In 1970 Freddy joined the band Smile, and changed its name for Queen, and he also changed his surname for Mercury. He also had a solo career which he combined with the band career. In 1991 Mercury died of bronchopneumonia due to AIDS. He was bisexual, as he had several relationships with both, men and women, but he never declared himself as so, he always responded ambiguously to that question.
