George Best was born on May 22, 1946 and died on November 25, 2005. He was considered one of the most noteworthy football players of his time. Having played on both Manchester United and for the Northern Ireland national team, Best was known for his speed, balance and goal-scoring abilities. In 1968, he was named "European Footballer of the Year", after his team, Manchester United, won the European Cup. In 1999, Best was voted 11th for the IFFHS European Player of the Century.
