Gwangju democratisation Movement

The Gwangju democratisation Movement was a popular uprising against the South Korean President Chun Doo-hwan from 18 May to 27 May 1980. The movement was ultimately crushed by the South Korean army. The movement severely damaged Chun Doo-hwan's legitimacy as leader and also led to the deomocratization of South Korea.
