Henry Reed
(1808-1854) Critic, was Professor of English Literature in the University of Pennsylvania. He died in a shipwreck. He was a sympathetic and delicate critic, and was among the first of American men of letters to appreciate the genius of Wordsworth, of whose works he brought out an edition in 1837. His lectures on English Literature, English History, and English Poets were published.
