Jeffrey Sachs (born 5 November 1954) is an American economist and director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University. He is known for his work on economic development, poverty alleviation and globalization. He has twice been selected as one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" in 2004 and 2005.
