Joaquín Salvador Lavado
Joaquin Salvador Lavado (1932 - ), better known as Quino, is a thinker, humorist and creator of comic figure from Argentina, although he was born from Spanish immigrants. His most famous work is the comic strip Mafalda (originally published between 1964 and 1973).
Quino's humour is typically acid and even cynical, often deeping into the misery and absurdity of the human condition, without class boundaries. He makes the reader confront the bureaucracy, the errors of the authority, the useless institutions, narrow-mindedness, and so on. He does not hesitate to use his cartoons to send messages of social content to his readers.
