Khmer Rouge
Khmer Rouge is the name of the Cambodian guerrilla organisation that took power on April 17, 1975 (the "Fall of Phnom Penh"), founding the Democratic Kampuchea (DK), a system of government of totalitarian features which consolidated a system of radical agrarian economy, evacuating cities and destroying the urban culture and civilization (considered bourgeois), nad making a social reconstruction since the origins of civilization (Cambodia Year Zero) and the recovery of ancient Khmer culture of Cambodia, under the direction Pol Pot (Saloth Sar), its main leader, and under the control of the army, subjecting people to a regime of forced labour and application of methods of arrest, torture and mass and selective murder under the excuse of "looking for the internal enemy". The end of the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979 resulted from the invasion of Cambodia by Vietnam.
