(1967 – 1994) Kurt Cobain was an American singer-songwriter, musician and artist, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the grunge band Nirvana. The group was labelled "the flagship band" of Generation X, and Cobain hailed as "the spokesman of a generation". In 1992 he married Courtney Love and they had a daughter the same year. Cobain also had a period of consuming "notable" amounts of drugs, and suffered a lot of illnesses. In 1994 he made his first attempt to suicide with an overdose, later this same year, he shot himself on the head. Since then he became an icon.
