La Haine ("hatred") is a 1995 French black and white film written, edited and directed by Mathieu Kassovitz. The film centres on three young friends and their struggles in living in the banlieues (suburbs) of Paris. The film highlighted the problems that exist between typically immigrant populations around Paris and their clashes with police.
