Considered the holiest time of the month of Ramadan, Leyla al-Qadr is also known as the Night of Power, the Night of Decree, or the Night of Destiny. It is believed to be the anniversary marking the night when the Qur'an was revealed to the prophet Muhammad from Gabriel, the angel.

Leyla al-Qadr is usually observed during the last ten (odd) days of Ramadan through fasting, prayer, and studying/reciting the Qur'an.
