MacPherson strut suspension system
An independent suspension unit consisting of both a coil spring and a shock strut. (A shock absorber is inside the strut.) It is most commonly found in the front of passenger cars, but can also be used in the rear. This is a compact design that allows efficient space utilisation while providing a smooth, comfortable ride with good handling.
