Mario is an Italian plumber, often having to save the Mushroom Kingdom, and Princess Peach, from the tyranous Koopa, Bowser. He has a younger brother named Luigi, and a rival named Wario, who looks like Mario but different. Another one of his rivals is an ape named Donkey Kong, who appeared back when Mario was named "Jumpman". Mario has had many spin-off titles, such as kart racing games, party games, and many sports titles, including a sports series collabarating with Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog. Mario is also one of the original 12 in the Super Smash Bros. series of fighting games, along with characters such as Link, Kirby, and even Pikachu.
