Marissa Mayer
Marissa Mayer (born on May 30, 1975) is a prominent business executive in Silicon Valley and corporate America. She was named president and CEO of Yahoo! Inc. on July 16, 2012. Prior to joining Yahoo, Mayer served as a long-time executive and key spokesperson at Google. She joined Google in 1999 as the company's first female employee and one of their first 20 staff members.
Ms. Mayer was responsible for the look and feel of many of Google's popular products, such as the white search homepage, Gmail, Google News and Google Images. She was also in charge of Google's location and local services, including Google Maps, overseeing more than 1,000 product managers. She was a member of Google's operating committee, a small circle of senior executives working closely with Google's co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
Mayer graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. with honours in symbolic systems and an M.S. in Computer Science. In 2009, the Illinois Institute of Technology granted Mayer an honoris causa doctorate degree in recognition of her work in the field of search.
