Mathieu Kassovitz (born 3 April 1967) is a French director, screenwriter, producer and actor, best known for his drama "La Haine". For his acting work, he is best known abroad for his role in the popular film "Amélie", and particularly well-known in France for writing and directing "La Haine", released in 1995, which was highly controversial and brought tensions between immigrants and the police to light in France at the time.
