Nancy Shevell is a member of the board of New York's transport authority and heiress to a large haulage conglomerate - New England Motor Freight - currently owned by her father Myron. While she worked for the company for most of her adult life, she recently left the world of work to enjoy other pursuits.

On she married former Beatle Paul McCartney at Old Marylebone Town Hall registry office - the same site that Paul married his first wife Linda.

Nancy comes from a Jewish family and still practises the religion.
