Occupy Wall Street
A demonstration protesting the negative corporate influence over U.S. politics and a lack of legal repercussions over the global financial crisis that triggered bank bailouts, foreclosures and high unemployment. "We, the 99%, take action against the greed and corruption of the 1%," as the protesters call it their movement. The aim of the demonstration is to begin a prolonged occupation of Wall Street, the financial district of New York City, to draw attention to Wall Street's misdeeds and call for structural economic reforms. Organizers intend for the occupation to last as long as it takes to meet their demands.
The protest has spread to 52 others cities as of September 27 including Boston, San Francisco, and Chicago, as reported on Occupytogether.org.
