Patti LaBelle

American singer Patricia Louise Holt Edwards, born in Philadelphia in May 24, 1944. She spent sixteen years as lead singer of Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles, a group which changed its name to Labelle later. She started her solo career shortly after the group disbanded in 1977 and became more poppy, with songs like 'On My Own' and 'If Only You Knew'.

She was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award in the 2011 BET Awards.
