Samuel Moore "Sam" Walton (29 March 1918 - 5 April 1992) was a businessman and entrepreneur from Oklahoma known for founding the retailers Walmart and Sam's Club.

After leaving the military in 1945, he opened his first variety store in Arkansas. Walton made sure the shelves were constantly stocked with a wide range of goods, which was key to his success. At the time of his death, his personal wealth was around $23 billion.
