Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff, also Sergey Rachmaninov or Serge Rakhmaninov, (April 1, 1873 – March 28, 1943) was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor. He is widely considered one of the finest pianists of his day and, as a composer, one of the last great representatives of Romanticism in Russian classical music. His work includes five works for piano and orchestra, two major a cappella choral works and three operas.
