Sherwood Clark "Woody" Spring is a retired United States Army Colonel and former NASA astronaut. Sherwood was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on September 3, 1944. Spring is married with 2 children. He is the father of United States Olympian Justin Spring. Spring has received numerous honours and awards, amongst these are Distinguished Flying Cross, 2 Bronze Stars and Meritorious Service Medal, 3 Army Commendation Medals and 9 Army Air Medals and many others. Sherwood Spring has logged 165hrs in space, 12 of which were spent conducting Spacewalks. Spring has also accumulated 3,500hrs in 25 different military and civilian aircraft. Over 1,500 of those hours were spent in jet aircraft.
