TechCrunch Disrupt, a conference held by TechCrunch.com, showcases the most promising startups, and gives them an opportunity to compete for a $50,000 prize. TechCrunch.com, a leading technology media property committed to profiling startups and breaking tech news, held their first international conference this year in Beijing from October 31-November 1. That TechCrunch chose Beijing as its first international hub highlights the opportunity for growth that is alive in Beijing. According to Andy Mok of Red Pagoda Resources, the co-host of the event, "The selection of Beijing as the site for TechCrunch's first ever international Disrupt conference shows that Beijing indeed is becoming as important in the tech world as Silicon Valley and New York City".

Beijing's TechCrunch Disrupt was fiercely competitive and saw the elimination of over 400 applicants. Ultimately, the first place prize went to OrderWithMe, an innovative company that enables small American fashion and home décor retailers to directly source superior, yet affordable products from factories in China. Expect to see more of OrderWithMe in the near future.
