The Sting
The Sting is a 1973 Academy Award winning American film. It follows the storey of a group of con artists led by Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford) as they attempt to pull off a huge scam on a crime boss. The film was nominated for 10 Oscars and picked up 7 of them, including Best Picture. It was directed by George Roy Hill and also stars Paul Newman, Robert Shaw and Charles Durning.
Production lasted a year at a cost of 5.5 million USD. Following universally positive reviews, it took 160 million dollars at the box office and has since been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
