Trojan War
Legendary war in which a massed force of Greeks attacked Troy after the abduction of Helen of Sparta by Paris of Troy. The Greeks eventually sacked the city after a ten-year siege. The war was a major theme in epic poetry and forms the background to Homer's Iliad. The legend may rest on actual events of the Mycenaean period.
