Wade-Giles
Wade-Giles is a romanization system for the Mandarin Chinese language. It was the most widely-used form of transcibing the Chinese language for most of the 20th century up until 1979.
It has been entirely replaced by the pinyin system in Mainland China and is now often found in history books, particularly those about Imperial China.
